    Tubular tyres and wheels

Tubular tyres generally need to be professionally repaired. The tricky part is re-sewing the casing after the repair. You need someone like this:- As regards punctures, one usually carries a complete tubular under the saddle as a spare and puts it on. Held on partially by the pre-applied...

Secondhand steel frame, what to buy?

One snippet of advice - whatever you decide on, make sure it has an English bottom bracket (1.370 x 24TPI, with LHT fixed cup) and standard 27.2mm seat post fitting, as these are by far the most common replacements.

    Bargain Ebay bike lights

I have a Hope Vision 2 as a helmet light and found the Saik one to be as good as the dimmest Hope setting on 'Low' and almost as good as the second dimmest on 'high'. The Hope third and brightest settings are better but as it costs about 100 times the Saik .... :P

11 days for mine. I've also lashed out a 'BIN for 99p' for similar with a head torch fitting in the hope that it's just as good. This will go into my rucksack for the 'get you home when it gets dark quickly' rides in a few months. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT

Er, good to know, as this is a cycling forum. FWIW, I'm currently going through a phase where there's nowt much wrong with the bikes, so am enjoying it quite a lot more than when there's a wee problemo!

    Bargain Ebay bike lights

Mine arrived today and as not really needed, I'm keeping this as a house torch .... and have ordered another! :P As a comparison, with a Hope Vision 2, the new light has a two-way setting. The lower setting is very close to the Hope lowest setting and the high position is very slightly...

    Decent Presta valve chuck.

I use one of the big brass Silca chucks but after some use, the air leaks from the rubber seal so that no amount of tightening will stop it. Probably the file effect of the serrations on the valves. Anyone use one that goes on smoothly and locks with a lever? Must be either a chuck or...

May well explain why my Ishi 015 Shorter lo-pro flexed like spaghetti with me at 177lbs shoving it along in a 128" gear (57 x 12)! FWIW, I had no such problems with 017. :P
