Pipe cutter is just the ticket... cheap as cheaps too

If its an alloy pipe then it will cut it,but a steel [heat treated no doubt]-Not a snowdrops chance in hell

If you use a new 80p blade, it will do it, but take it slowly!

As I have two stems thats brilliant in its simplicity. Can even still use the spacers to make sure I don't damage the stems.

Now next issue, having never done it before how easy is it to put a new star nut in? Tell me your tricks.

I use my LBS for quite a lot of things.If i ask theyre quite happy to cut it for free.Seeing as im a good customer

Unless you need a new star nut, just bash the old one down by the amount you're cutting off.
