Name that frame...

Retro Guru
Just picked this up (bought mainly for the XT parts that were on it).

It's among the worst paint jobs I've ever seen! The black paint is literally flaking off in my hands.

Can anyone tell me what it is? Guy said it was a Diamond Back, but I'm not so sure. It might be a post-Raleigh takeover DB though.

Vital statistics are:

Centre of BB to centre of top tube: 16.5"
Centre of BB to top of seat tube: 18.5"
Centre of seat tube to centre of head tube: 21.5"

Distinguishing features:
- Nice cast dropouts
- Gusset under head tube
- Top cable routing

Looks like it might have been yellow once.

Retro gurus, do your worst!

thanks a million!

So how early is early?

And should I be fitting rigid Project IIs on there or finding some sus fork to suit?

Cheers guys!

I was wondering if those fat joints are braze not welding - they don't have the scales of a weld. It looks like a fillet brazed Dawes - my tandems look exactly like that.

My money's on a Scott frame. ;)

Below is a pic of the rear dropouts from my '99 Yecora.

Verrrrry similar. And looking at my frame, it also has that slightly offset seat-stay set-up.

Case solved, perhaps??

don't think it's brazing... it's an aluminium frame...

welding looks a bit ham-fisted if I'm honest.

It is a light frame though - much lighter than the Technium I'm also working on at present.
