Not being funny mate but reading between the lines you damaged this persons car and rode off without stopping or even offering an apology. I'd be pretty miffed myself and it wouldn't of taken much for the situation to escalate after you further failed to stop. The levels of violence and verbal abuse from the other side certainly cannot be excused, but if you reversed the roles and some bloke who just damaged your property, failed to stop, failed to apologise and tried evading you on several occassions then once you finally did stop them they laid hands on your upset other half, you might see the red mist too.

I wish you well with recovering from your injuries, rebuilding your bike and claiming from your insurance, but before making a claim against the tax payer i'd take a good look at ones own actions.

Did you stop or apologise after snapping the mirror off the car??

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, but be more careful next time!!

Good luck with cica, and the police for that matter...

The guy said he tried to apologize but the woman wasn't listening.. It doesn't sound like any damage was caused.. and then he's pursued and attempted to be run over.. then he's pushed by this scary nutter lady... - For fook sake!, people are talking about BoyBurning being too PC, but if this had have been a bloke....., and then he's asaulted by the fella and his bike trashed.......??

ahem, ppl should read his original post again. he didn't snap or damage the mirror, just bumped it. although no damage was caused or if there was, even if ever so minor, one should have still stopped and apologized. but that's still no excuse for the abuse and assault the guy got both verbally, physically and the damage caused to his personal property by the couple.

if the police catch the two culprits, i'd definitely get proper replacement cost estimates for all the damage they caused and sue their arses for every penny, as well as for the personal trauma.

damm... that's horrible. I've had a bad week myself dealing w/ street rage.
i hope the Police gives those 2 fvckers a real hard time. i mean... a looooong hard time.

Tag-Heuer: they make exclusive & expensive watches that are bought from exclusive shops in the main, with GREAT customer service...Yes?

Nooooooo.... must restrain self.... nooooooooo!

No. Though thou had suffered a mortal wound defending the holey ring of Sharon from a Ball-gag in the dread Mines of Moor-hen, yet the Goddes (and that "s" is spelt with an "f", I'll have you know) themselves would revolt if I spoke in praise of Tag Heuer...

There isn't a brand of watch that collectors look down on more - they spend a fortune on marketing, then sell watches assembled in the Swiss sub-contractor's factories by the same Turkish workers from the same Taiwanese components that Victorinox and Zodiac use. The Vickie and the Zodiac will sell at £200, the Tag at £700, and Seiko will sell you a much better watch for £150. I had a £40 Uzi that used the same Ronda mech as a friend's Tag, and the Uzi's tritium tubes probably counted for half its cost...

Well said. An apology should have been given but i've been quilty in the past of moving on without giving one if no damage has bee caused, close traffic in rush hour is a nightmate and i'd be forever stopping to say sorry as bumps and scrapes are just something drivers should accept if they leave no room for cyclists. Especially those who drive past you and then straight away pull back in and stop blocking your way!!!

I would sue for this and the bike damage. Good luck with getting this sorted out.

Putting the violence and verbal abuse to one side, it seems a classic case of a cyclist believing the laws of the road don't apply to him. If you have an accident no matter how trivial you stop.

As for the violence encountered be very careful, yes you've had the crap kicked out of you but in law you too committed an assault when you pushed this woman, you also left the scene of an accident and commited damage to a motor vehicle which could be argued was criminal damage. Claim and counter claim might leave you out of pocket and with a criminal record.

I don't condone the violence or abuse in anyway, shape or form, but this situation was entirely your own making, it was your careless riding, your failure to stop, your attempts to escape your obligation to deal with the accident that escalated this minor incident. If you'd of faced upto your responsabilities as a road user in the proper way none of this might of happened, if you'd of been driving a car at the time and not on a bike you'd have done the right thing i'm sure, but because you were riding a bike you thought you'd get away with it. You didn't and now you want us the tax payer to pay you damages for your poor judgement.

I'd love to hear the other side of this story, it might be a real eye opener for many city centre cyclists who show a complete disregard for the rules of the road and no accountability for their actions.

this was my earlier point, and it holds true.

I have never had a cyclist damage my car but a friend has. Guy rode into her door and rode off. Cost a fortune as it was a new Range Rover and wasn't hers. I can imagine she would run you down if it happened again. Not right I know but ................
