Had a one-off GT Zaskar Carbon 4X bike stolen from the apartment where I used to live. It was built up for Dave Wardell and had Hope Team Green everything (including custom brakes, Pro 3 hubs, skewers) which was VERY hard to get hold of at the time (you literally had to be a team rider to have it). The rest of the kit was SRAM X0, Easton EC90/EA90. I bought it from Dave and had only had it for a few months.
The most annoying thing was that I was 99.9% certain that I knew who took it - I actually caught the person eyeing my bike up earlier on in the day and I made a point of making sure that it was securely locked to metal railings in the communal area (I previously had the bike locked on the landing outside my apartment on the top floor, but had been warned not to do so by the lettings agent). Unfortunately, the person in question worked for the clamping company which operated in the private car park, so he had access to bolt cutters which would have made easy work of the locks.
Despite giving all of this information to the police, they would not follow it up (they wouldn't even call around to the person's address to eliminate him from their enquiries). I provided the police with 30+ photos of the bike but was informed that it had been allocated as "unsolved" just a few weeks later.
Here she is the day after I got her. A few bits were changed (namely the forks) but you get the idea. She was a beauty (sorry for the terrible photo!):
