Long term unemployed to be asked to give back something

Long ago I decided the press was not worth my time and money and if anything a waste of materials, but being out of it one gets to see a different picture emerging and that the media organisations are in fact corporations which seem to be allied to the political elite. The media corporations have their best interests at heart and that interest is money, now who are they going ally with to get increased access to money, none other than the people that make the policies, policies which increase the media's access to the fodder that feeds the masses.

Furthermore has anyone noticed how the media conducts business these days, what it focuses on to sustain and increase it's sales, has anyone noticed an increase in sensationalism, cases where creative supposition is used in lieu of hard facts.

The media is manipulating the populace of this country without a doubt, it is stirring up problems that create fodder for the masses and who does this serve other than themselves, none other than the policy makers who have to wade in and legislate or punish thus making a freeish society less free.

Perhaps for the open minded here, a good source of news stories analysed after the fact to reveal corporate interest.

There are others around similar to this, and if one asks the question about corporate media in Google Scholar, one will find there are many papers written on the subject that throw more light.

I agree with this 100%. I'm amazed the amount of times I hear people going on about something as if they are the worldwide expert on it when all they're doing is quoting from the papers. Always fun to question them about the subject!

People who earn money while claiming benefit are fraudulent, end of subject.
Not necessarily.
(what was that about getting facts right?)

Breaking the speed limit is not thieving money from the tax payer now is it :?:
No but it is a significant contributing factor in thousands of deaths and serious injuries on the roads. A far greater crime it could be argued.

Re unemployed

Although I agree with most of the comments that have been made what irritates me is the reason for all the cutbacks and tax/vat increases is directly related to the fact that the last government plus the banking community messed up big time and to get some money back into the countries coffers this government tightening everyones belts (except their own).
This business of cuttting back on waste, fraudulent claims etc ,etc should have been started a long time ago. When you have families, none of who have every worked and have a life style that most of us could never hope to achieve then that is what is wrong with the system and needs to be resolved asap, that and getting industries in this country up and running again.

Hi,

I used to work in road safety for West Sussex County Council. One of the things they are keen one is costs...

You might like to look at the following page, and remember that these costs are bourne by the public purse....

Usually caused by little things like jumping red lights, talking on the mobile, tiredness, due care and attantion, speeding. All things that people don't really think of as Criminal.

RE THREAD

Could argue its the system thats to blame in encouraging people to abuse it,ask an MP,especially as regards their expenses system, but there again they are all "honest gentlemen"

Did I say that I have broken the speed limit anyway, dont think so,we have all been guilty of this I dare say (drivers anyway) but I have never repeat never claimed any benefits in my life,I have always been able to find some kind of income from somewhere as I dont really mind what the job is,I have a strange thing called pride that means I will not allow myself to be labelled as a sponger.

And by the way,I do not read gutter press articles and infact avoid the news and tabloid/celebrity culture rubbish as much as possible,my opinions have been formed living in one of the most deprived areas in the country all my life ;)

Very true, my ex did some research in driver behaviour and it was often those who considered things like speeding as 'soft' offences who had a pattern of criminality of other kinds.

I may well have been caught today as I was a bit quick into town and there was a mobile unit parked up. Initially I thought, what the heck, beautiful dry clear weather, but then I remembered that where they were parked there was a car load of people killed a couple of years ago.

With no doubt, speed kills and speed costs the taxpayer too.

I don't think anyone has died as a result of rogue car booters, (well maybe from eating some dodgy pies).

Prepare to see a huge increase in the underground economy as this idiotic coalition of the incapable needlessly hack what is left of the overground economy to pieces and throw society back twenty years.

If all they can come up with is send people to clean toilets for a few weeks I have little hope for all the people they are making redundant imminently.

You may not have noticed, but alot of the people being made redundant from government or civil service positions were only put into their positions by an idiotic labour regime to make the unemployment figures look better in the first place,if the country can run without the people waisting time making up bureacratic bull.... then fair enough,if you look at what a lot of the people working for goverment are getting paid it will be a lot cheaper to pay them dol money instead of a wage.

I'm confused now. You seem to state that people on the dole are Jeremy Kyle watching, cheap cider drinking, good for nothing scumbags but then suggest it's better to have hard working public service employees kicked on to the dole because it's cheaper? :?
