At the Single Speed European Championships in Belgium last week there was the bike throwing competition where a cheapo crap geared bike is thrown by competitors as far as possible until either a winner is decided or the bike was destroyed, a little of both happened.
The bike was a European GT clone, not a GT but it looked so much like a GT that only saddo's like me could tell it wasn't one. The bike had the ludicrous early 90's paint scheme, the rear U-Brake the works.
Based on the damage it received I fear there was no love for GT's at that event
Personally I think GT are great for inovative full sussers but the hardtails are nothing special. Further the author of this thread is a Specialised hater, pot calling kettle black per chance
