GT's why the dislike ?

i used to have various GT's, liked all of them, 2 zaskars, lts2000, karakorum and a psyclone.

i feel i have had my GT faze although it was well before this forum existed, so i don't feel the need to have them again with the exception of if a nice psyclone if one turned up or if i saw a cheap karakorum.

the karakorum i really liked, it was my commuter for a while, it was a bitza bike but the ride was spot on, it was the reynolds 525 frame, had kona p2's, rolf xc propel weels, avid v's and a deore 9speed based gearset with roox riser bars, it looked nice and it was so sprintable. then my knob of a brother got it nicked!

my psyclone was just simply a beautiful bike.

Why the dislike ...... because they're peasants ! :D

They all look the bleedin same.
What unlike every other make which only has 2 triangles ?

How many other makes are instantly recognisable minus decals and paint ?

I was just thinking that - Plus there are, for example GTS/LTS/STS which aren't even triple triangle

The pic response of ano'd and bare/polished GTs was pictorial poetry in response, superb eloquence zero words

Like I said when someone hates on a manufacturers entire output ever, it is highly unlikely to make any real sense!

Monkey metal? All the Cro Mo ones are low end? Any takers to pop that one?

Brand hate makes zero sense.

I don't get the real bottom end GT's when you can step it up a level or 3 for not much more dollar .. the Outpost I rode was heavy as flip..

I'm not mad keen on the Ti ones but that'll have to be from aesthetics alone since I'll probably never get to swing a leg over one..

Any bike/cycling enthusiast should be able to appreciate a well built bike regardless of whether they like it to ride or who made it surely?

And let's face it, even the top of the pile can be made to look a dogs dinner..

I think more often it's a case of brand snobbery. GT's can be a first point of call for a lot of retro fans, with all types of budget, and as a result there are some interesting builds out there. They seem to be kitted out with often pretty garish finishing kit both BITD and nowadays - bike bling does suit a lot of GT's quite often, not that that's my cup of tea.

Then I see a picture like GM's just posted, including the Psyclone SS, and I get reminded of what an honest and consistently progressive brand GT were.

I could do this all day and probably not duplicate, I think you are mistaking them for another brand. Even polished Zaskar and Xizang frames are not truly grey, so basically you've got a couple late 80s Karakorams and Tequestas, the Lightning and the thermoplastic bikes.

And the Zaskars in the above photo are from one members collection I believe, although he probably wouldn't argue with the "GT nut" tag.

this harks back to the reason i OP'd this
i think ,genuinely ,that GT have made a commendable effort to satisfy our lust for interesting bikes , not only that but they ride so well to
GT are so much more than just a triple triange
paint schemes ,aheadsets,thermo plastics , rts/lts/i-drive ,titanium
and they can be bought on your high street
for me the only other comparitve brand would be cannondale
