Alpinsestar Hording

technical help needed

Hi,
I've been wondering anyone out there have tried to changed the stem on the T26? Must I change the fork inorder to fit a standard Dia 22 stem? I just bought a JD suspension stem and thought of using it. Really appreaciate if any bros can provide some help. Thanks.

if you bought a 22.2 quill stem, then you've got the wrong size. You should be looking for a quill size of 28.6mm, which will then fit within the ID of a 31.8mm steerer tube (which Alpinestars from this era were fitted with).

There are shims out there, that fit over the quill and take the size up from 22.2 to 28.6, so hope is not lost. It may be worth putting a wanted ad up... ;)

ooops, just noticed you were referring T26, so ignore all of that, which I wrote up there...

Yummy, but instead of hoarding get out and ride them, after all a horded bike is a dead bike, or sleeping anyway!. :D

I couldn't have put it better.

So GT Seven, no idea how it's done fir tge T26? Maybe using shims, like you've suggested might do the trick. But then it leaves me with only choice but to get tbose clip on types of stems....
