What does a National AEC do? Is there more than one National AEC ?
I understand that each region/area has their own AEC and deputy AEC who "manage" the rides and events within their area.
I'm unclear on the role of the National AEC though?

My take is the National Organiser (just the one) has to try and organise the organisers and create a National Series of rides that pleases everyone, get around the country fairly and is safe and fun. i.e, pretty much an impossible task. I think it takes a great deal of diplomacy and the ability to not rise to the bait to save from endless bunfights. Can you see where I am going with this......?

So, something I've been doing for some 7 years then. OK. Like I've said, a long think and its for 2017 anyway giving me plenty of time.

Re:

It was quite sad to see some of the childish comments Mark, if they want to be like that then sod 'em mate ;)

Re:

Its getting to be quite a thankless task being an AEC Mark, ride numbers have dropped and the post above asking if we have a rides section pretty much sums things up unfortunately.

I run a pretty successful Facebook page with all events linked to Retrobike but all attendees are usually part of my local group.

With one acception my deputy's haven't contributed to our area group in well over a year either.

If you really think you can contribute the time and effort to getting things back to the good old days then I'm 100% behind you but it may be a hard task.

Re:

Tis a sad day when someone steps up to have a go at resurrect something it appears others have written off, and claim not longer works.

To coin a Dr Peppers phrase "what's the worst that can happen"

He falls flat on his ass?

All I want to do is rock once a year in a myriad of locations to enjoy the best riding that area can put on/showcase. I've met some really great people doing so and seen places like the Southdowns' that I'd never visit in the month of Sundays. The Mynd is another example as is the peeks.

Can some good come out of this ?

Can we have a last throw of the dice and have a national series next year, and let the numbers do the talking
"use it or loose it" lads it's about to wither on the vine otherwise.

Whilst I've only met LGF a couple of times (on National retro rides funny enough) and have little or nothing to do with him on the forum I do applaud the fact he was willing to have a go, and doing for the greater good and benefit of minor folk like me.

I just want to ride my antique rig with in warm(ish) sunny days with like minded folk
