1991 Brodie Sovereign

Is this vanity talking?

Probably.

But I love these two photos. The first just because it kind of captures everything I love about how this bike looks and feels, and the second because it captures how it rides.

Plus it's just an amazing photo!

A 30-year-old bike leading the charge ahead of all that modern gear - what's not to love?

Anyway, I figured I'd leave them both here as I mentioned this one was still getting ridden regularly and it's nice to be able to show the proof:

Nice tires there. What are they?

In the top photo in my last post: Renne Herse Humptulip Ridge. I put these on all my bikes, as I love them, and they're much narrower than the advertised size (under 2.1 rather than 2.3), so on older rims and bikes they fit nicely without too many clearance issues.

The only bike I have where it's a bit touch-and-go is the Merlin. But that's more to do with the chainstay mounted U-brake than the chainstays themselves.

I have recently put the Ultradynamico Mars tires on the Brodie tho. These are much wider, and I wanted to try them on this as it has plenty of clearance front and rear to accommodate them. More aggressive tread too!

Still getting ridden regularly, this one.

Still some changes to make that I've been putting off. Currently running a temporary mix-match wheelset, and M952 deraileur. A new XT RD will be going on shortly, after I've figured out why this Phil hub doesn't seem to love the modern IRD 7sp cassette I've just put on it.

And the purple stem is still on there.

One day I'll get around to trying out the McMahon...

Knowing me, probably the week before Paul says the custom ICR is ready!

Some good, and very good news, that I assume a few others received this weekend as well!

Exciting times : )

And I think I know my plan for it, too...

Will give the whole bike a little tune-up in the weeks ahead and post some updates once the stem arrives...
