    04 Marzocchi MX Comp Problem

I have a set of 04 MX comps, they flex like hell! but have done since new so not too bothered. Im intrigued (spelling? im having an off night) as to what you mean about one side going down a bit. They do have quite a bit of flex in the lowers too. You can see this by holding the bike and...

Arn't steerer tube sizes a universal language

I always find it strange that we refer to steerers in inches, but seat posts in mm even though they are imperial based (26.8/27.2 etc). Suppose saying 1 1/10" or 1 1/14" isnt much easier to say or remember mind. Though saying that bikes are still a hotch-potch of imperial and metric stuff...

Hope C2 front mount help needed Boxxers

Is it a post mount calliper? (did they make post mount C2s?) If it is then a boxxer mount to 183mm post adapter. If not then you need a boxxer mount C2 calliper half, which aint easy to come by. Pip

Found this STX RC front shifter

I have a vague memory of seeing a STX-RC 8spd shifter in the bottom of my toolbox last time I ventured into the dark and dingey place. Was one with the shifting window too. I will investigate when I get a chance. Pip

    Name my Marzocchi's please.Modernish.

No. They are definitely NOT MZ comps. MX comps maybe (very different) or more likely 2002 EXR airs. They EXRs became the MX comp in 2003, and didnt exist in 2001 (though there was a MXC IIRC which was almost identical to the EXR). All of that aside you need these in 30mm size. Pip

Marzocchi MX Comp ETA - opinions please?

I have the standard version with the same crown (with the holes in). They have been round most of the seven stanes in Scotland with no issues so I dont think strength is an issue. Pip

    Lightly grinding a rim

Rim grinding is very common with trials bikes. Only use if you want your brakes to be on or off, like STOP or off. For any use other than trials it has rendered the rim useless for rim brakes. Pip

    marzichi z1 bombers.........

The double to single crown bit isnt an issue. The problem is what travel the lowers were designed to take. This was at the time when the lowers of Zocchi forks were all travel specific remember. If the supers were 100mm I would expect them to be ok, if they are 130mm (which I think they are) I...

    marzichi z1 bombers.........

They will physically fit yes, if they bushes and things are in the right place is another matter. If they were the same travell then you would almost certainly be OK, but as they arent I would expect you to have issues. Pip

At the station: Manitou 3 forks? Answer fluo brake levers?

Slight thread hijack, sorry. I didnt know Magura made a Tomac version of the HS22, thought it was just the HS33 (which I have a set of). When were the HS22 out? did they just manage to pass under my radar? LOL Pip

    1x9 or 1x 8 ratios...what do you ride?

I run 36 ring to 12-30 8 speed cassette. This gives a top ratio of 1:3 and a low ratio of 1:1.2 This seems to give me a good set of gears for the slightly up-down nature of my 8 mile round trip commute each day, and still gives the ability to climb/go like a maniac if I feel like it. Its also...

This is a stupid idea, right?

As above really. Pretty sure I still have some pics of a guy at the local jumps who had his steerer like this, or rather I have pictures of the resulting mess before he went in the ambulance. They aint prety!! Pip

Is now not the time to tell you there is a filler that can be powdercoated? One of my mates had a frame filled with it then coated. Very good job though :) Pip

    1998 DMR Trailstar

Yer that was standard with the Ritual that year. Find someone to weld the crack up and put a little triangle shaped gusset just infront of the brake mount. A mate did this to fix his and was charged about £5 to get it done of a local welder. For the price of them they are very nice riding little...
