For fat slicks I would recommend Schwalbe Super Moto's. 2.2s. It comes with a low profile tred which rolls really well; they're the racing version of the Big Apple but are folders so light.
I ride them on my commuter XC for 20 miles a day and they are really good in town. You can run them easily at different pressures so they will be great for Bangkok.

I'm picking up some Schwalbe Big Apple 2.35" today. I hope they fit or I'll probably go for a nice practical Marathon Mondial 2.0" for a bit of off road use as well.

2.5 definitely sounds much too big for any older Raleighs that I'm familiar with - for pretty much anything retro in fact ... except a nice e-stay I'd be quite surprised if 2.35 fits too, but fingers crossed for you!

Used Halos for a bit of light touring; they're heavy and roll mmmkay on tarmac if you pump them up good and solid, but still happy with a bit of gravel etc. Plenty of puncture protection too if you get the right version. Sounds like they might fit the bill.
