Everything comes together with a good glue: Raleigh Chill 1990

Agreed 👍

The only thing better than a great build is a great build with a great build thread 😁
🤣

Yes, it must be admitted that I am very communicative. But I don't have to say that I can't dedicate all the time I would like to the bicycles, but I can't stop thinking about the project and then I have to tell it.

It has been stopped for about 15 days for personal reasons, but over the weekend I made progress.
I started by discarding the riveting system of the lower cable guide for a screw, which is more beautiful and, above all, practical. It is a simple operation and a good start. Along the way, check all the frame threads.

I had planned to put on a nice ITM outback set that I have had for decades stored in black because originally the handlebars and the seatpost were black (I never really saw the seat post because the one I had was not original).
But when I started building it on Saturday, the bike yelled at me to put it in silver.

I remembered that I had an old Ritchey handlebar that I polished many years ago, it was my first time trying to polish a part, in 2008 or 2009. I put it on and of course the bike should now have silver elements.
I didn't have any seatpost in 27.2 silver so I started looking for one quickly and found it. In the sale photo it looked very bad, but it had the remains of the Ritchey logo silkscreen and it was "only" 60 km away. from my house. Plus it was €5. Look no further, I took the car and went for her. I polished it all afternoon and Sunday morning. A logo to finish off the operation and I think it turned out quite well.

For the seatpost screw I have several in black, but since I have decided to have all silver, I have removed the anodizing from one of them.
It had DX BR-MT62 NOS brakes but unfortunately they were missing the springs and dust covers. I found some BR-M650s in very bad condition but they had the parts I needed and they serve as a donor for mine. I kept them because they can still provide some other spare parts. The levers were some Deore II NOS that I had saved for a big occasion... well, their time has come. In the box a gift: the original wiring that of course I will take advantage of

The cranksets are FC-MT 60. They are not too bad but they did have some serious scratches, so they have also been polished, leaving them as little bright as possible. I don't master that technique much, but I like how it turns out. They had round chain rings, but I decided to put some Biopace, I never liked the system, but I think it is the most appropriate for the time.
The front derailleur is an XT. Well, a DX would be more appropriate, but I have 3 and I must give way to one. At the end of the day, it is the philosophy that I wanted to give to this bicycle, to restore and recycle as much as possible.
Finally some thumbies. I had to straighten them (the right one was bent???) and repaint. Finally the appropriate and functional decoration.
The Ritchey headset has recovered its logo that it lost when rebuilding it

Well, it's almost there.
The tires are not the final ones, I have some saved that if the decoration looks good they will be a great complement. And if not, I have plan "B".
Cassette, chain, saddle, wiring and adjustment, a bottle cage and the decals...
