Today's Ride

Re:

Parked the Sunday run for Monday instead. This morning, sort of chilly 5 degrees dropping to more chilly 3-4 out on the Downs, mainly clear skies with a touch of high cloud. Big full moon and a glorious sunrise. It was a perfect winters ride clocking in at just shy of 34 miles. Sadly I forgot my phone so no pic's so here's Mr Hanky instead

Following on from Ross’s nice woodland pic this morning I too had a nice fresh morning ride in NE England....

Hartlepool Marina loch gates looking out to sea....

Nice steady 20 mile ride after walking the kids to school taking in Seaton Carew and then on to the historic Headland...

You can almost see my house looking down the coast from there

Re:

Some quality shots there. Chilly 2 degrees, dropping to 1 in sheltered spots. Very still, high cloud and another fantastic colour show from the universe. After yesterday's longer loop, with a few early calls this morning, I kept the loop short at 20 miles and fully suburban. That said, I ended up on Worlds End Lane skirting on the edge of Chelsfield. Pretty sure there are some footballers houses down there - massive piles of tacky looking modern build mansions. Lovely and quiet up there though and once off that, the sky was looking ace.

Great sky!

Dreary, cold & damp this morning but a nice short blast to kick-start the day.

Re:

Absolutely no chance of any repeat of that sky this morning. Super grey, super dark, and increasingly wet as the ride progressed. And cold too, not getting over 5 degrees. One of those rides where the legs feel great but you question why you bothered as you peel off your sodden gear back home  As a result I kept off non-lit roads as the visibility was just too poor. Another solid 20 miles. No pic's so here's a shot was Arizona last year to tempt the sun to come back out.

Re:

^Doesn't look like ideal riding conditions. ^

I was feeling tired and wasn't sure about going out for a ride today but, by early afternoon, staying in seemed like a waste of good sunshine. I decided it would be a short, easy-going ride to the sea and, having spent a while cleaning up the Stumpy, I couldn't face getting it dirty all over again, so I pulled out the RockHopper, which had been languishing in the dog house since throwing me off in the summer. Not warm - about 6 degrees - but beautiful skies.
