Today's Ride

First ride of the year! 🎉 (6th Feb - shameful)
A short but finger numbing loop round the outskirts of town & the nearest clump of muddy woodland

This was mainly a test ride for some new bits on the bike & to assess the Xmas damage on my fitness levels. The bike performed better than I did 👌

Very muddy 30 miles around (to me) really hilly parts of Leicestershire. But we made it round, great cafe stop at Launde Abbey, very bike friendly. Free bag of crisps and the biggest pot of coffee, 3 mugs each job. Car broke down on way home, it’s taken me a good part of the wine that was going in the stew to recoup my enthusiasm!

The 3 dots in the last but one photo are 3 Chinooks that flew low over us through the estate we were riding through. By the time I had my gloves off and phone out they were almost gone.

Are those V-brake specific levers?
This is such a nice bike, makes me want to ride immediately....and I'm not even a drop bar bikes guy.
Yeah, they are old Tektro v-brake specific drop bar levers, given to me by a friend a while ago. They were partly the inspiration behind this build - I realised I still had the original Avid Single Digit calipers in black from my Lava Dome in the parts bin.

Recently spotted some lovely Dia Compe Gran Compe Evo-V levers that have me thinking about upgrades already;
