Today's Ride

Today's great ride with the Parkpre Team 925 (4h30, 40km and 1000m of elevation)

the weather is great, no one on the road, the bike is running well, great

arrived at the lake exactly 1 hour after leaving the house (lac de la Thuile)

picnic with feet in the water, watching the fish

after this nice little break I arrived on a very steep path, super wet and therefore super slippery, I push the bike because I'm weak and my tires are smooth ! but after I can continue on the bike, pedaling with sweetness in the muddy passages, and there are many of them

I climb, I alternate between pushing the bike and trying to avoid deep mud puddles

I arrive at the first pass, I take a stony but dry (at least at the beginning) forest road, it gets bad after a while with a few more very greasy and very steep sections, but in the end I arrive at the second pass

I tell myself that next time I have to do this in the other direction, up to the lake it's quite a descent, in the meantime I take the forest road which goes down towards the village of Aillons le Jeune

very nice road, shady and cool (quite a few streams on the right and left)
I arrive at the village and find fresh water to fill my bottle and take a banana break before tackling the climb of the last pass

and here we go again, on the asphalt it's still easier than on the rocks or the mud
attacking the climb with a nice view of mountains (Mont Colombier at the far end on the left and the Roc de Pra Renard on the right)

arrived at the pass I switch back to the big descent, I leave it before the end to take my little path which I like and which takes me not far from home avoiding the road

in the end super happy, the Parkpre is really super pleasant, comfortable, light so very good for climbs (or when you have to push 😁 ), I love it !

Just a quick shakedown ride to get the new build set up correctly.
A lovely evening, and a super new (to me) frame and fork. The bike is just so much fun, I got carried away and fan out of daylight 😄

I like the bike. Is it a RockHopper that's been converted to fully rigid? If so, what's the fork? I'm curious because I'm thinking of going for a rigid fork on the RockHopper I got a few weeks ago.

Friday morning action. 12 degrees and felt like that with the W 10-12 steady breeze. Solid grey cloud, not a glimpse of sun but the odd patch of light blue sky.

Headed further west to Carn Brea and the Beacon. Took in a few new trails to investigate and connect some dots. A good stretch of the legs before work. Now Bee will get a good clean and lube for Sunday's race.

Came up the "back" way for a much steeper accent.

The barley has taken off the past 2 weeks. Looking back to whence I came. You can see the trail in the second hill, right about in the middle of the photo.

Outer trial bank in the distance - a failed attempt to capture freshwater from the rivers flowing in to The Wash.

The Inner trial back - as above!

IMG_4670.jpeg About as flat as you can get today +/- 20ft elevation for the whole ride and I think some of that was getting in/out of the car.

The cycling window I had today coincided with a storm and so I was soaked from min 5 of the ride and for about 2 and 50 mins.

Just feels very rewarding after you finish a ride in adverse conditions…

The forest is usually empty when it’s raining and this time indeed I didn’t cross a soul apart from the odd 🐸 and the 🐌 of course.

Spent all day alternating between doing jobs around the house and fixing various bike bits around 6pm realised I had not really been out so hoped on this 'work in progress'. IMG_4590.jpeg

I typically take one of about 6 different routes around the park from 10 - 18k. I pretty much know where all the rabbit holes are! But although the route are often the same, there's always something different to see.
