Late-afternoon spin on my mate's Kona Jake (which I'm fettling for him -- gotta test it, right?). Chilly but bright, nice bit of dirt-road cruising. Sun was well on the way down by the end of it -- at about 3:30pm. Beautiful day though.
Somehow, I got it in my head that I'd like to try a 29-er, and that some front suspension might be nice again, and, above all, that modern MTB geometry sure does look comfy. Actually, I know it's comfy: I had a 650b MTB a few years ago. Anyway, when a 2015 RockHopper 29-er was recently advertised locally for a very tempting price, I got it. It needed a bit of work, and it sure wasn't kitted out with high end bling, but, as a way to try out 29-er-ing, it looked decent. Today's ride was its first proper outing.
Impressions: climbs very well (but it has a very low bottom gear), very comfortable, a bit slow. I'll do some riding on it over the summer and then decide what to do with it.
Busy day, so cycling had to wait until 22:00Hrs
Really enjoyed that ride, the darkness of the woods made it feel as if I was going at a hundred miles an hour!
We set off on a leisurely tour today
We won't go quite that far
When my wife parks the bikes
As the weather got worse and worse, we made a detour to the fastest rollerblade track in the world. Of course I had to test it....
Now I need new trousers...
