I put my surfboard in a proper padded board bag in the “gaurd van” once and had that cringing feeling for 13hrs back from Newquay when I was a a teenager and yep still came out dinged… yep never again… once upon a time when I was a regular touring scratch DJ and had just got hold of a magical (at the time) numark digital deck with a 12” scratch record on top controller thing… I popped it off at the “fragile” window at the airport in its fancy flightcase which had fragile stickers all over it as usual ….. waiting for my bags at the other end before going to the other ends “fragile” window the flight case comes rolling out down onto the bag conveyor and straight away I know well that’s that fkd and tonight’s gig…. that bloody deck went back to Numark nearly every time I flew with itI was told there'd be a guards van , which there was but the bike stowage was a large cubicle with hooks so the tandem was double the length the hooks were designed for . It hung in an awkward L . Bump , cringe , bump , cringe ......
A different world almost .The guards always let me sit on the floor in the van with my bike. Happy days 30+ years ago.
So I survived Wednesday and the trails were super grippy in the thaw then absolutely no grip at all in places… so lots of fun and absolutely lethal but no free helicopter trips or major tree arguments this week : ) here’s the belated picsAnd so it begins…. usual day off and was excited for a snow ride on the DH but all the snow has gone and I managed to miss the early early train to the flying circus training spot, but it was -8 at 7 this morning so maybe the trails have thawed a bit by now
got the usual dirty stare from the trolley dolly as I wheeled the beast into the wheelchair point but train bicycle holes are not meant for big square DH bikes, I ve tried many times to no avail, luckily it’s only one stop

@squirrelchaser -- thanks for checking in! Yep, all healing up well -- had the last x-ray yesterday and will see the surgeon for his sign-off (hopefully) next Thursday. Then it's physiotherapy and trying to get fit again.@moonlite , how are you getting along ? Recovering well I hope .
Glad to hear it .@squirrelchaser -- thanks for checking in! Yep, all healing up well -- had the last x-ray yesterday and will see the surgeon for his sign-off (hopefully) next Thursday. Then it's physiotherapy and trying to get fit again.
This site has been great for keeping in touch with things bike while laid up . . . but can't wait to be out and about doing it myself.
