A different world almost .The guards always let me sit on the floor in the van with my bike. Happy days 30+ years ago.
So I survived Wednesday and the trails were super grippy in the thaw then absolutely no grip at all in places… so lots of fun and absolutely lethal but no free helicopter trips or major tree arguments this week : ) here’s the belated picsAnd so it begins…. usual day off and was excited for a snow ride on the DH but all the snow has gone and I managed to miss the early early train to the flying circus training spot, but it was -8 at 7 this morning so maybe the trails have thawed a bit by now
got the usual dirty stare from the trolley dolly as I wheeled the beast into the wheelchair point but train bicycle holes are not meant for big square DH bikes, I ve tried many times to no avail, luckily it’s only one stop

@squirrelchaser -- thanks for checking in! Yep, all healing up well -- had the last x-ray yesterday and will see the surgeon for his sign-off (hopefully) next Thursday. Then it's physiotherapy and trying to get fit again.@moonlite , how are you getting along ? Recovering well I hope .![]()
Glad to hear it .@squirrelchaser -- thanks for checking in! Yep, all healing up well -- had the last x-ray yesterday and will see the surgeon for his sign-off (hopefully) next Thursday. Then it's physiotherapy and trying to get fit again.
This site has been great for keeping in touch with things bike while laid up . . . but can't wait to be out and about doing it myself.
I have managed to stay the right way up so far this year !Not a good one. Ten miles out I was heading down a hill straight into about 100m of sheet ice. It wasn’t a case of if I came off, just when! The front wheel went into a large pothole and bounced up out it. It washed out upon hitting the ice again and down I went. I can confirm ice is both wet and cold. The left side of my carcass is bashed up. Knee, hip and elbow. New clothes will be needed.
With an extended period of Swearing Therapy behind me I managed to climb back on and pedal my sorry arse home in a low gear. In all the excitement I didn’t do a very good job of straightening things up:

I will assess the bike tomorrow and myself now. I must be getting old! Years ago it would have been the bike first.
You know you said that out loud right ?!I have managed to stay the right way up so far this year !
