Today's Ride

@Suprachrgd82 Blue skies and biking in shorts in California? Yeah, nobody is jealous, especially not in Canada.
PS the paint on that karkoram is awesome!
Hahaha, well, we’re lightweights. It was 58*F out, which is virtually “freezing”. It took some heavy motivation to go out and ride with a chill like that. Seeing the bikes was a treat. The guy with the Karakoram had a “Steel is real” sweatshirt that earned him extra cool points.

Chilly. Proper chilly, full thermals on. Air temp of 3, felt like 0 for the most part. High cloud, with some breaks. 5-6 mph ENE breeze. Most of the dampness has dried up bar one treacherous icy spot which I took great care to navigate past. Solid 30-ish miler defo sets up the day nicely although I'm still warming up now 🤣

The cameras night mode pulling out all the stops; looking back towards St Buryan from the edge of Sennen.

trying to force myself to do more commuting, which is a struggle in the cold and dark. Luckily there is a mostly off road route into manchester and I'm cheating a bit by driving the hilly , roady bit until it gets lighter.

Outwood Trail?

I too have been trying to keep up the commuting momentum. Yesterday was -4 leaving the house! Loads of layers needed. Heavy snow today, so came in the car.

Made the excuse I had to go “to the bank” on my lunch time sandwich run so I could get some extra time taking a full send, snowy, 2 wheel drifting, klunkerteering detour through some wooded city spots

I absolutely love riding in the snow, my old snowboard head pings on and suddenly anything covered in white seems rideable where usually I would see possible tree and pedal arguments

just popped some proper plus 60mm 2.5 tyres and a rear disc conversion for full rear lock up on the other day as well maybe it could smell the snow coming

a super fun half hour blast/slide

And so it begins…. usual day off and was excited for a snow ride on the DH but all the snow has gone and I managed to miss the early early train to the flying circus training spot, but it was -8 at 7 this morning so maybe the trails have thawed a bit by now

got the usual dirty stare from the trolley dolly as I wheeled the beast into the wheelchair point but train bicycle holes are not meant for big square DH bikes, I ve tried many times to no avail, luckily it’s only one stop

Another snowy commute for me, had to take the MTB today as the ice was lethal. As such, ended up taking a much more off-road route to work through woodland / country parks etc. Lots of fun.

Was actually a beautiful morning with the low hanging mist and sunrise, alas, 3 pairs of gloves and handwarmers means I couldn't reach for my phone to take any photo's. Just imagine a really good looking bloke riding a bike in the snow, you won't be far off

After a few cold dry days and even colder nights the trails around my local woods have now dried up enough that I feel like riding around them, the perfect opportunity to find out if fitting a new shifter has fixed the problem of slipping in gear with the spares or repair
Alfine 11 speed hub I bought a while ago and it seems that it has.
