Today's Ride

Took the “retro” bike for a frosty spin, the headset grease even felt gunky and thick because of the cold

Even tho I am supposedly a “retro guru” I am really still relatively new to proper retro biking and the forum so I really should do a bike/build thread for this bike as it’s the only one I have that I consider a “propa retro” ish build and although it’s had a few different set ups over the last few years it’s now definitely gearing towards a pure retro bike and something for the gf to have a blast on when she finally redeems her promise of going to an actual trail centre and trying a blue and a brew in the cafe …. maybe … one day ahaha she seems to keep forgetting about it ppfffttt

It's been raining pretty solidly every day here for the last week or so which has been frustrating. Today dawned partly cloudy but dry, so I took off up the nearby hill and down the other side to have a look at the messed-up 'badlands' bordering the river that has formed the landscape hereabouts over the last few millennia.

Everything was very wet and muddy and the small streams that cross the path were quite deep and swollen -- wet feet ensued. The fire trails were quite muddy and draggy, but overall it was great to be out for an hour. It certainly sets you up for the day!

It's been far too long. The combination of terrible weather and work has meant 3 weeks of running in all sorts of conditions. Finally I got back in the saddle last night...then again this morning so double 👍 👍

Last night, pretty still, 6 degrees, lower in the dips and valleys, so thermals on and working nicely. Dark. What else eh? ;)

Smirk...all I thought about was Minnie Riperton ;)

This morning, also 6, lower in the valleys, thermals doing their thing. Light SE breeze, 10-12 mph. High, broken cloud. A glorious morning around the way, taking in Sancreed Beacon, Drift, St Buryan and Carn Brea. Some absolute lunatics on the roads. Thankful I can see them coming and take the appropriate preventative action. Sadly for him, and echoing LGF's woes, one the lunatics is a neighbour, so looking forward to having a little chat with him later 🤣;)

Anyway, a cracking ride all the same!

Looking to big town, the night mode seems to work well on my crusty Pixel 4a.

Looking over to Porthleven and glowing Helston.

Yet more lovely images.
I remember cycling through the Luxulyan Valley late one Easter night. What a frost trap! Brrrrrrr.

Is that illuminated ‘decoration’ supposed to be so humorous or is it just an outbreak of naïveté….?

Well….after a close look at the photo reveals that it’s mounted on scaffolding poles I suspect a cheeky air of deliberate naughtiness…

….I always thought that Santa Claus was a bit of a pr…..
