Today's Ride

Re:

More commute miles today.
Different route home, going through Rye House this time.

Wanted to stop many times this morning, as the light was creating great scenes for photos, but didn't have much time to spare. Never do. The morning run is gradually getting back to normal, but the last 4-5 miles are still remaining busy.
It was about 12°c, cool, and with a constant breeze on the way in. Made good time. Had to remind myself it was late July.

For the way home 20°c but with the breeze was pleasant.

Just over 20 miles out, just under 24 back.

Re:

Work was shit on Tuesday and Wednesday so no rides.

Monday was pretty damp but humid resulting in some decent pebble-dash. Here's a shot into one of the narrower trails.

Today was a different story. Mild 13 rising to a lovely 15 by 08:00, blue skies and glorious sunshine, very still.

Blue skies and glorious sunshine, 18 degrees rising to 20 by 08:00. It's gonna be a scorcher

Wonderful ride, proper sweat on. Quite a few folks out and about presumably before things get scorchio. At the end of the ride I passed the lovely man who called me a cunt at the top of the voice some weeks back. This time he wanted "a word" with me and he started to get his smartphone out, presumably so we could have a selfie. Sadly I needed to get back to HQ for work so I rode on. Next time I guess

The light and leaves created some super patterns on the trunks and wood floor.

Re:

Set off today at 12pm with every intention of getting to Southwold (42 mile round trip), wanted to get there by 2pm as being a diabetic keeping my meal times regular is important. Things started out well enough but the wind was a bit blustery and in my face, despite that I made pretty good time to Lowestoft, that is when things started to unravel I decided to go down a steep section called the Ravine 5/8ths of the way down I hit a pothole hard (it was hidden in shadow), thought I might have buckled my rear wheel but everything seemed okay. I carried on through Lowestoft in heavy traffic until I got near Claremont pier when I turned on to the promenade cycle route, and I suddenly realized something was wrong I had a puncture  I managed to nurse the bike up to Pakefield cliffs (near a good pub that served food just in case). I fixed the puncture with my emergency kit, and pumped the tyre up as best I could with my mini pump, but knew I had lost too much time to get to Southwold, thought I might get to Wrentham (36 mile round trip), but with my under inflated rear tyre even that proved too much so I ended up in Kessingland beach (30 mile round trip). Had a lovely Curry and a pint in a local pub The Sailors Home, on the way back I though I would go past the petrol station in Kessingland and pump the rear tyre up a bit more, but as I approached it I noticed a shop called Cycle Recycle so I knocked on the door and asked if I could borrow a track pump and explained what had happened the very friendly chap came and pumped the tyre up for me and would'nt take anything for it. The rest of the journey was thankfully uneventful :D

Re:

It was going to have 35° today, so I started with the worst part at 9:30, a climb into the woods around the town. I didn't really feel the heat until I stopped to take a picture and sweat poured down my face. Phew! As a reward about 20 km mostly downhill back home.

Re:

I went out about 9, as I had a bit of maintenance to do before leaving. Took the Stumpjumper. So comfortable, I just kept going. Before I knew it 3 hours had passed. Turned around and rode home. Covered about 40 miles. New paths are getting further and further away.

16°c, light breeze when I left. 22°c when I returned. Beautiful day.

Big skies. Little fluffy clouds - The Orb would be proud. Gradually clouding over, almost completely, before clearing again.
