With most arms chain pin on big ring should align behind the arm with arrow on imaginary line extending from the arm, rest rings arrows aligned with the big ring so ramps and pins facilitating up/down shift.
On some ‘exotic’ chain sets (one hole behind crank arm), big ring arrow would be offset either L or R to imaginary line with chain pin unusable to protect chain slippage between arm and ring. Arrows on all rings preferably always aligned.
