Hi all

I recently bought some ta rings just wondering where the arrows are suppost to point in relation to the crank arm? I know I put them all inline with each other.

Cheers

Hi thanks for reply

I was wondering that but you cant get the crank arm bang inline with the arrows you can only have the arrow either side of the arm?

With most arms chain pin on big ring should align behind the arm with arrow on imaginary line extending from the arm, rest rings arrows aligned with the big ring so ramps and pins facilitating up/down shift.

On some ‘exotic’ chain sets (one hole behind crank arm), big ring arrow would be offset either L or R to imaginary line with chain pin unusable to protect chain slippage between arm and ring. Arrows on all rings preferably always aligned.

The chain catcher pin is threaded (or certainly was on the older TA ones).
I always drill and tap a new hole on the opposite side (by the arrow) to take the catcher pin for concealed 5th arm cranks like Campag Record or Suginos. Alternatively a little M3 bolt secured with some threadlock does the job.

Cheers guys. Yep inline with crank arm but opposite side to it. Looks like a had a bit of a brain fart there's a screw and nut stapled to the box for the big ring it didn't click what it was for for some reason until today when I noticed the hole in the ring for it dear oh dear.
