Chain ring assistance

Oh damn, that's me. I took it out yesterday to clean things up. My local bike shops both tried to sell me some rubbish cranks so I lost confidence. I am happy to support them. What do I need to ask for in terms of rings and cassette or am I over thinking. Cheers

Size and fitting.
8 or 9 (or10) usually doesn't matter
Take the crank so you can be sure the rings go on ok.

Steel cost less and last longer.

In some cases, a bit of filing is necessary, but the holes need to line up.

Update. For now just to check all running installed temp £35 shimano crank, will start to look to resurrect old crank next. New chain, cassette, rear mech cable, new BB and serviced LX jockey wheels all running very smooth indeed and nice to ride. Been a great experience so far. Next I need help with replacing the rock shox judy C's. I will do a new post for this, seems like even more of a minefield. Thanks again for all the help

Inch and an eighth straight steerer sus Forks are getting rare, and many used ones are worn out ☹- servicing is possible in some instances but not all, and sometimes involves a little "creativity"😉

Start your fork post with some pictures and description of the issues your Judy Cs have. If it's possible to fix what you've got, that's going to be a lot cheaper than replacing. Cheap Forks are horrible.
