Dating abandoned GT Talera

hey just found a not very loved dumped GT Talera

not got any pictures yet but interested in dating it.

A quick Google search bought up a matching picture

So ever knowledgable retrobike users what year is it? got a few Shimano 200GS bits if that helps with the dating.

IIRC 200GS came out in 1991 so no earlier than that.

The 1991 model year colors were Granite and White/Grey Web so it's got to be a 92 which was the last year the model names were on the down tube.

its a 1991, not 1992 as it has no 'GROOVE TUBE'

Take your foot out of your mouth....Talera's NEVER EVER had groove tube top tubes. This model was spec'd as an upright city bike/light trail model with entry components. Only the Outpost was lower in the pecking order back then.

Always been amused in a childish way by the "How do I date my bike" type threads, and resist the "nice meal and flowers is always a good start" response, but now the spam monkeys auto post is starting to pick them up it can only get better.

While 'A meal and some flowers' would be nice, I think 'oil the chain and pump up the tyres' may be more appropriate.

Oh and 200GS came out in 1990. So it could be from 1990-92. My guess is 1992.

I have exactly the same bike, bought it new in October '91.
