I can take it off if I remove the axle nut but didn’t feel as though that was the correct way as it exposes the pawls in the hub
Of course, you should do what you feel is right.Hmm all great ideas but I’m committed to this route. More of a Fisher Klunker build. Since this is my Klunker it’ll maybe show me what I like and don’t for next time
I like both, probably prefer black.View attachment 759808View attachment 759809
Progress on the donor. Running brushed aluminum right now but likely switch to black. What ya’ll think?
It’s old, it’s a 5 speed. Take it to a bike shop that’s been in business a long time. They have all the old tools that nobody else has.I am hoping to reuse the freewheel. I’ll take it to lbs see if they can get it off for me.
I use Honda after market bars. Around $25. Moose makes similar bars for under $30. They’re 7/8 so you need a Problem Solvers shim. They’re soft aluminum so they really grip well. That‘s what the Breezer 1 used on the German motorcycle bars he used as did some of the early klunker riders.Looking at some Huskvarna TE 610 E

This is how they attached a quill stem back then to this kind of bar. I’ve done this many times without any breaking while riding, on both steel and alloy stems. These Turner bars were around $25 on sale but I don’t think they make this style anymore.View attachment 759842View attachment 759843View attachment 759844View attachment 759845View attachment 759846View attachment 759847
