1990 GT Team Avalanche Restoration....hopefully...

🤣 🤣 🤣 I was going to comment on that, but resisted. But with these style hangers you are stuck with the length of they are because the one side has a nipple either end so is fixed in length. It should be visible on the back of the hanger... Otherwise switch to a more "traditional" hanger like on the U brake which means you can lower it. However...

The outer casing on your front brake looks too long and also your front QR is on the RHS, instead of the LHS...

Look what @Mod-Master has started!!!

We should get out more... ;)
I'm on it!!

... and don't worry about the gap in the seat stays, gonna weld that shut later...

I agree, I love the early 90's rad paint jobs. GT, Kuwahara, Muddy Fox and others all had some great designs.

Looking back at this thread...I have learnt so much in the year or so since restoring this Team Avalanche. Although I had been fiddling and maintaining bikes for years, full restorations like this were new to me back then. I sometimes think about redo-ing this one. I made some silly mistakes!... but have slowly been fixing them. Since then I've added a NOS XT headset and completely rebuilt the wheel set, fixed the brake cable and quill stem... It improved the bike and it is still one of my favourite rides. Snapseed (4).jpeg Snapseed (3).jpeg

It seems like a great reconstruction job to me.
You have brought that little wonder back to life.
Congratulations.
I love the seat post, very appropriate
