KARMA Ti frame - Photo's added (and consolation prizes too)

Steve, I don't intend on getting into a pissing match, and really debated whether I should even post anything as I know you intend nothing but good will, but I decided it was too important not to let you know the frames condition. I'm just trying to save someone else some future heart ache...

KARMA Ti frame - Photo's added (and consolation prizes too)

Steve-O, The kindest thing you can do is to put the frame back on the wall...based on the quality of the repairs in the picture as well as the condition of the tube at the dropout, the bike is not fit to safely hit the trail again. I've repaired many lost causes, some you just have to be...

    Seat post stuck in frame

For future use, here's the best remedies... I have done dozens of stuck seat post removals as a service to local shops. With the AL post you are facing...fixture the frame in the lathe and bore it out with an under sized bit. It will likely break free before you are fully through. A...

How important is a Chainstay Bridge?

Mike, the chain stay bridge does effectively shorten the triangulation of the rear end, providing for some lateral rigidity. However, the main purpose of the bridge was for the attachment of the kick stand...if you can live without one of those, you are good to go. cheers, rody

I personally like these, but I am biased :D http://groovycycleworks.com/HotRodCranks.aspx FWIW, the blue set is a Rohloff chainline crank and is available with either 4 or 5 bolt spider. If you decide you want it, I'll send John a donation for facilitating the purchase by hosting the...

BAD TI WELDING ???? BETTER PICS

greenstiles, You are correct, those are micro-cracks on the surface of the weld. This is due to poor argon coverage during the cooling phase of the bead, as the molten puddle was subjected to oxygen above 800 degrees. An additional indicator is the "halo" to either side of the weld bead...

    Mountain Goat "Golden Goat"

Phil, Are you sure of the origins of the frame? The finish is a Dupont Alesta Gold Vein polyester powder coat that was not available at the time of the frames date code. I'd be curious to hear the story on this one. rody
