who knows what about muddyfox!

Beartraps are the best looking pedal ever IMO....they look as dangerous as they are!

What pedals are they? I might have a hunt on ebay or post here for some originals for mine...may as well make it stock as not far off.
If it's the same as these then they look cast alloy? similar to the VP-707 black ones I have on the courier? Bit squarer though? maybe not as rounded? Someone will know.

Well. That's a surprise. I scrabbled about in the garage for my box of bits and the pedals I thought (I can visualise them!) were not what I thought they were. The spares are actually another set of beartraps, but still with their reflectors (mostly). As I recall, the originals were silvery alloy with reflectors built into the sides, and I think a row of grippy flat-topped nipples on both sides a couple of mm in diameter and maybe 4mm high. They weren't very good in the mud, as I recall. I still have scars on one shin from a beartrap pedal a good 35 years after it bit me!
I would think pretty-much any MTB from the early 80s will sport a set of beartraps unless they were removed later.
Someone posted a link to a Muddy Fox catalogue on this thread quite recently. There will be a good picture of the original pedals in that.

Yes. I remember them. Those are the ones. I can see them in the spares box in my garage, but they're not there.

I'll find the ctalogue pics....have scanned ebay, but will grab an image and maybe post in wanted here just in case

weird yours seem to have pedalled off somewhere.....

They do look similar to VP-707, have seen black and silver on some of the early bikes, maybe retro fitted? This older photo from back in the day (borrowed off the muddy fox FB group) shows a slightly squarer pedal? Closer to the catalogue pic.
