White Corrosion Removal

A couple of components I have have little white spots of corrosion on them (Campag parts). Anyone know what this is and how to remove it?

corrosion

suggest surface oxidisation of the alloy....very fine wire wool (OOO grade) should remove it without damaging the component....

If using wire wool, dip it a touch of light oil

Try cooking foil and water,works wonders on chrome,can't see it being any different on alloy.

Different reaction.......On chrome the Aluminium foil is more reactive than iron or chrome so it's displaced from the "rust" leaving aluminium oxide and the original metal. In theory

Can't get the same reaction from the Aluminium alloy.....
