Best vintage rear derailleur (thats fairly easily available) for friction

As above. Currently considering Shimano 600 Arabesque. Will probably be running with a 9 speed cassette, rather than my current 10.

Would probably be running a triple at the front, but would still like to run a decent range at the back?
 
Before about 1990 shimano Road dérailleurs struggled with rear sprocket over 27t and long cage was a necessity for a triple.

Basically if you want a decent range, you'll need mtb.

M730s are great, but I love the Deer Head m700 - a charming investment piece i tell myself.
