Fixed cup is standard Raleigh pattern. It may not be screwed all the way because the spindle bearing spacing is wrong. IE for a wider bb shell. The original pic does show a demarcation in the paint just above the lamp bracket. Who knows? Another one saved.

B/B may be 26 tpi check before screwing random cups in. Hold the two cups together look up at the light and you should be able to see any pitch error between 24tpi and 26tpi.

Thanks. Sound advice. The cotterless axle clearly looks too long, hence the cup protrusion, but it could be threads of course. The lock ring is actually a Hercules so probably original. I'll try a spare cottered axle and cups I have. I love cotter pins you know - especially the lovely BANG when removed!
