I need to fill a couple of dents on my Easton ally Kona.

Whats do you guys recommend? car body filler or is there somthing better?

It's going to be wet sprayed, primer then base coat then laquer.

be careful with car filler. on tubes especially or if the filler isn't perfect when the tube flexes slightly it can cause the filler to pop open and will leave you with a nice round crack in the paint.

I saw a prime example of this on an old custom beetle (purple to green house of kolor flip paint with a bronze metal flake in it!) the guy did all the prep work himself and everywhere he fill'd had perfect outlines on it where the paint cracked away.

be warned, it may work but there should be a better way.

You can get flexible metalastic body fillers, that should do the job.
If it's a steel frame and you're extra handy and very carefull you could try and lead load it. But I wouldn't.

Thats the info i need :D

Keep it coming but keep in mind it's an alloy frame.

Isn't there some liquid alloy which hardens after a little time?

I have a few small chips in the bottom corner of my 729's main tube and on the seattube support struts. They need to be filled before I can even think about paint, but regular filler won't do.

What size dent are we talking about?.

Ones about the size of a 5p & the others about the size of a 20p.

Pics below but difficult to tell from them really.

There's a liquid metal adhesive that could be used for filling small nicks and chips but it would be an expensive way to fill large (ish) dents.
You could try lumiweld for small chips on alloy but it does require heat.
For up to 20p size dents the metalastic filler will probably be best, You can get some from halfords or from Frost restoration.

Cheers,

Should get the frame stripped tomorrow if its not raining.
Then i'll nip to Halfords :)
