I've had Cindercones, Kilaueas and Explosifs back in the early '90 but always lusted after a Hei Hei but could never afford one - now i can afford one, I managed to get a frame. It's taken longer to build than any other bike I ever had and I'm still not happy with the ride. I'm going back to original threaded triple butted p2s to get the geometry right - hopefully I'll have my dream bike then..

for me it has to be a honda.

there, i said it. i know its not retro but it really pulls my strings. i got so excited when they talked about doing a production run. then mourned for days when hrc announced they had packed it in.

i feel so lost now.

I guess you know now that the SRP of the honda frameset was gonna be £6K

Merlin Newsboy for me please... I can still get a Retrotec but it´s just not the same, is it?

nice choice :D they do pop up time to time but are still pulling fairly hefty sums for the frame only.

...but I currently want a steel Stumpjumper...

Why a steel Stumpjumper and not an S-Works steel?

Yeah, an S Works steel would do on the basis that beggars can't be choosers ;)

you've only been looking for 5mins carl! ;)
give it a year of looking, then if you really cant find 1 you can say they're hard to find ;)

this would fit you, & would be waay cooler/ rarer than a 90s stumpy

"LFRAME141 Specialized Stumpjumper Sport: 1" Threaded Biplane fork. Horizontal drop outs with adjusters. 22 c-t ST, 22 3/4 c-c TT. Lugged frame, 68mm BB, 126mm rear end. Ovalizing of the seat tube looks like someone ran the post too far out while riding. Paint is heavily scuffed picture2
Good frame, fair cosmetics 1985 $125 "

what size is this, 20in?

(jeff, I'll take the commission later, thanks ;) )

At the risk of sounding like a scratched record.

Ink blue anodised '95 Zaskar LE, but it has to come with a set of USE suspension forks. (Thet weren't brilliant, but they were better than RC35's :D ).

I don't really crave anything any more exotic than that.

A P7 would be nice, I'd like a steel Orange to go with the ally one.

Oh......and maybe an X1 or X2; or an RTS

Is this to tick boxes or to get out and ride?

I'd love to have something rare but I would be to scared to ride it, therefore it would have to hang in the hall, which would mean a divorce, which would mean I have even less money than I do now, and therefore I'd better stop thinking about this!

If it's to ride then I'm happy with what I have

There is one in my dad garage but I leave it there for when I am in france .

Please don't tell me it's a 21"!

you need another bike in that shed?

Of course, although one more may mean I am sent to live there (surprisingly cosy actually)

It appears I'm being misunderstood! I don't think that Stumpjumpers are hard to find I'm just surprised that it wasn't a very easy search (compared to, for example Exolsifs and Yo's), after all Stumpjumpers were pretty widely seen BITD.

By the way, who is this Carl fellow, I'm not sure that I like the cut of his jib.....
