Five ten aescent...not strictly a mtb shoe...stiff enough and flexy enough in just the reet combination to get a wearer not feeling the need to change shoes once the rides over. Hit a little moody on a cobbled bridge second time of wearing mine, put me right peg down sharpish and found meself doing a one legged pirouette....on a damp cobble. The mesh panels are handy for feet hygiene.
The freerider elements are waterproof but not so spec'd for a little walk or run should the need arise....sealskin socks with the aescent will get you there with the advantage of being able to interchange the socks if you're a multi-activity type
