Wow everyone has an opinion dont they! The best and worst of a forum?
Adi bud, hope your well? Let the bill do there job! We speak of Karma and it generally works out. It's given you a headache for a wee while but the consequences for their actions has the possibility to f~#k their lives up for a good foreseeable! Given the opportunity i'm sure you'd do some chest poking and shouting? I'm sure that opportunity will happen for you! Chin up kidda and again hope youre well?

moral of the story as far as im concerned:

DONT push women ( I cant believe this wasnt picked up on more ).
Self defence is acceptable but pushing a woman is not - what did you expect her boyfirend to do after witnessing that? I would probably have done the same, even it id did mean I was defending the honour of a psycho biyatch.

DONT wear extravangantly/rediculously/over priced specs on the streets, keep em for the comfort of work/home

Get the number plates in such an incident...

I've been on the receiving end of unprovoked serious assualts, unfotunately its becomming all too common in our cities (blah blah), and I feel forced into a constant state of semi-paranoid self awareness when in cities and towns, people are capable of anything these days. But good luck with the police...every incident ive been involved in they have proven as usefull as the proverbial chocolate teapot, especially when dealing with gypo's as they are scared stiff of them.
When you witness and become involved in similar events as often as I have, then you inevitably become a little bit more hardline in your views

Finally, I would have defended my Ti pride'n'joy to the bitter end, wrapping it around your dark friends head if neccessary.

I do however wish the victim of the assault a speedy recovery, the attack was an over-reaction to say the least and these events can be terrifying.

and if anyone doesnt like my comment on theiving gypsy scumbags...tough. try living in close proximity to them and their utter lawlessness

I suppose in hindsight (yeah I know) and if it was me... I would have just kept pedalling... there's always a way to mount the pavement or go against traffic or whatever... at some point they would have had to stop and get out of the car...by that time they would have been eating my dust getting a good look at my middle finger, its happened to me a few times

Good grief, what a way this thread has evolved

Really sorry to hear that the original poster got a pasting and his bike got smashed up. Hope it all works out for the best from here.

[Separately, that STW definition makes me laugh every time and, given that it almost certainly originates from deep within STW towers, makes me feel quite fondly for the place/magazine. Not that I'm brave enough to post there of course]

This is nothing. If anything, it should be moved to off-topic, since there has been no pic of the smashed GT, and no specs...most of the original post was about all of the experience besides the GT, so it's only fitting that most of the responses would also follow that line.

RB is a cool place, and having a thread like this every now and then, only means it has human beings posting...the comments on here are nothing like comments on some threads over on the VRC, case in point:

http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=533949

That thread is the wasteland for multiple reasons.

Nah...there's nothing wrong with that thread. VRC is going to have to sort out their direction somehow, and they might as well talk it out to get there, even if it is in a thread about a junky Barracuda. ;)

I agree that this thread is nicely civil, even though it's touched on some pretty sensitive stuff. That's why I like it here!

''nicely civil........sensitive stuff.''
erm.. :? - the fact that many people in Britain care more about etiquette and 'gestures' of civility than our serious problems of violence.?

...all too often the absence of which can lead to fisty cuffs and trashed bikes!!

Oh yeah, politeness and courtesy is the glue which holds society together, ...nothing to do with fundamental morality then..
