Today's Ride

Full day off just about today (well it’s meant to be but 50% of the time I get roped into something work related) managed to batter off some emails and divert a few phone calls in between sorting out some work related ninjary via said device when the signal was just about right…. but it was obviously going to be one of those days..

But before I start an absolute privilege and something close to my heart to even be in these woods on the regular and twice in 24hrs is unusual but also from surfing days when it’s working it’s working

put some lovely moto front slop guards on for full moto styling and makes your front wheel look twice as wide and ride like it is … was fully working well … then second run down had a bit of a tree argument

Now probably could have gotten away with it if not for the split second of being taken away from concentrating in the “zen mode” to thinking “oh I might crash into that tree it’s a bit sloppy” then what do I do without making any “zen” adjustments to body weight and bike yaw because I was thinking “oh I might crash into that tree it’s a bit sloppy”…… crash straight into said tree

we decided that the tree would take the nice moto mud guards as a peace offering as they had already been written off and both snapped off in the crash …. Pfft

so for the rest of the day I could just about see …. And while I was checking the new features on the lower lines hadn’t been tampered with …. someone had vandalised the new drop while I was in the woods… quite squirly and a bit dangerous going off it an hour later …… Strange behaviour and we think it’s a disgruntled local … (99% of the locals are sound and one of the main trail builders lives in the local village)

going to be a busy 925 tomorrow after todays deflecting

Stay frosty...

MT4

Chased, caught and passed a roadie, on my 32 year old mtb, as we were riding parallel cycle lanes on opposite sides of the road through Manvers. I think it annoyed him because he kicked on and upped the pace. Held him off for a mile or so before my lungs went 'dude, wtf are you doing?'.

Ended up on 'The Stacks' as a local walker called them: slag heaps left over from the land's previous life as Darfield Main Colliery.

Great views.

I've no idea how far I went. Far enough to know that any comfort offered by that seatpost was cancelled out by that saddle.

It was bitterly cold but calm. Lots of mud. Great fun.

Loch Orrin dam today on the ‘Beastie’ as it’s now been named. 😋

Heavy frost but clear skies when I left this morning so looked like was going to be a beautiful day, which indeed it was!

No wind, not a sound to be heard, massive Golden Eagle seen and the most stunning scenery with snow capped hills in the background…. what a day! 😎
