Today's Ride

@KayOs

What did you enjoy and didnt enjoy about the gravel bike?
I really like how light it is, how it accelerates, how fast it is, and yet how well it handles light terrain.
But the gearing is too long for me. I do not need a bike which I can pedal at 80km/h downhill but that I can not pedal up steep hills without pain in my knees (I know, one can quickly change that).

But what I am really no longer into are drop bars. For me they only have disadvantages and their advantages I can not really use.

So the bike will leave me again sooner or later.
Just not my cup of tea.

beautiful day today, so what else could be done? go cycling! :)

An evening ride of 66km, benefitting from the autumnal temperatures here in Qatar ("only" 32deg and 65% humidity). Good to stretch the legs a bit and work out. Took the Infinito C2C. Not elderly by the standards of this forum, but a good 10-15 years older than the rest of the bikes in the peloton around me.
Those are the lightest pedals i have ever seen !

Rhine and rain today. I’ve changed the brakes on my retro gravel from 734 XT to 900 XTR some time time ago just for curiosity because I found a pair cheap on ebay. Hard to tell if there is a difference in braking power but definitely the nicest canti brakes I’ve had in my hands so far ❤️

Autumn most definitely is here. First ride in over 2 weeks thanks to the problematic conditions. Last night was the first time the wind dropped under 15mph (anything over on the road bike is sketchy around here) and wasn't tipping down. Even so, boy is it soggy!

Still, there's something magical riding on your own, with no-one about, in the dark. Shame it doesn't translate in the pictures 🤣

(I turned the lights off for added effect lol)

What's that? 2 in 2? Yep, another break, a tad windier and colder but ok for another blast, and magical it was as well. Great vibes all over the place. A little more to see before it all went BLACK! Garden mine on the right, some crazy fishermen out on the left.

Quite a simple ride for me this weekend. A ride on the public roads (as opposed to cycle paths) northerly out of "the big city" into a headwind (yuk, like a hill but without a summit) then turned and flew with the now-tailwind back down a beautiful cycle path to the start point. 112km in 33 deg warmth. All rather pleasant apart from the 19kph headwind.

A feature of this place is the absence of hills, high-rises or trees. So the wind doesnt relent. Not one iota!
