Today's Ride

Another New Forest cycle ride today. Increased the distance to 43km and around 400/500m of ascent. Took a coffee and lunch and found a nice bench to sit on and enjoy it.

Warmed up to a balmy 14° late afternoon.

First run out on the new (last week) Galaxy @Mangizmo

It runs fine and, most importantly, fits me and is comfortable. I haven't done much to it, it's still on 3x7 gearing and Schwalbe Marathons which I will probably just leave. I need to give the brakes a fettle and I have some new SKS Chromoplastics (in silver, of course) on order, hence me going out on a dry day, although it was cool and still a bit of snow on the tops.

YAAAAAAAYYYY looks fantastic, yes silver chromplastic mudguards are a must, not cheap but they last forever and do the job. Personally I dont find any canti brakes satisfactory so I have swapped mine out for some V brakes with top mounted cyclo X style levers too and they work soooooo much better, the V brakes cost £6.99 on Ebay !!!!!! but they are really cheap from anywhere, didnt even have to replace the cables, they had plenty of length as they were. The V brakes are 100% up to the job and I now have confidence that I can stop (cant believe we all relied on cantis). I have a couple of tweaks to make, I need a slightly shorter stem with a 17 degree rise and its on the way. PS you can get an A headset converter on Ebay (mine already had one) which gives you more choice of low priced modern stems, I will post some pics of mine when I am 100% finished. Your bike looks great
