Today's Ride

Because the local drought has been busted by about 25 inches of rain in the last couple of months, it's the best season for mushrooms in years. We don't pick 'em and eat 'em, unless by chance we stumble on some chanterelles, but I get photos.

Yesterday I got on the bike too late to catch up with Pat, but I caught up with his brother Dave and another friend. I saw a flash of bright red about fifty feet off the trail. It was one of the most beautiful and well-known of the entire mushroom family, Amanita Muscaria.

Apparently they are common elsewhere, but I had never seen one in Marin. This was a magnificent specimen.

That looks like a gigantic bicycle built for giants. It should have a GIANT sticker instead of KONA on it... ;) and while we're on the subject of wildlife someone should really tell these birds it's time to move down south. The winter is coming...
... and so is the ice. This lake froze in just a couple days. I wouldn't go skating on it just yet but apparently some ppl already had.
Even trails are covered in ice so had to walk up from the bridge. No traction what so ever on that black ice.
Saw a couple happy smiling santas walking on the bike lane. Weird. Looked like they were in love or maybe just looking for the reindeers.
The reindeers were later sighted down town, so no escaping Christmas this year either.
Thus, Merry X-mas to y'all and especially so to my old wing man Retro Guru Woz (where ever u r (r/h)iding).

Last time I heard from him he was hangin out with Dalí on his way through Spain.
Promised to get wifi and tune in on this thread.

I'd say it is about time.
