Today's Ride

That looks like a pair of proper arctic heavy duty shoes! Do you ever get to ride in sub-freezing temps around Fairfax?
Rarely, but it does freeze here sometimes overnight in the Winter time- I mostly got those boots because they are waterproof, but warm is nice, too, even if it is only 40 F. out. We have been having a good few rainstorms passing through, with a big one tomorrow coming in off the Pacific, but it's been relatively warm here so far-most days 60 F. plus, with the lowest overnight so far about 45 F.-not so bad...

A friend of mine, who is a Ranger in our Water District, posted this pic of a big cat taken by a game camera the other night- 1 mile from his house, about 8 miles from mine, in an area we ride all the time...

Male California Mtn. Lions get up to 245 Lb. and one killed a Mtn. biker in SOCAL a few years back as he was bent over to fix a flat on his bike-they hunted that one down and shot it...

Re:

Very smart gentlemen.

Cold and drizzly but great to be out all the same. Took the road past the castle to picture one. The break in the trees on the ridge is the location for picture two. This bike really does make the 26ers feel silly for this kind of stuff. The descent from the ridge is as fast as you dare with a couple of tight turns. The discs and fat tyres allow for flying and late braking. Can you see what I did there? ;)

The old mill seems to become more a part of the landscape each time I visit.
