Today's Ride

Re:

Today-Monday-We rode up into the Lakes District. Pleased to see the lake full, and the spillway at Lake Lagunitas spilling! This is the uppermost in a chain of lakes that spill over when full and fill the next lower one, etc. After 3 years of drought, this is good news...

Re:

Not much mud yet-that is a pretty nice, tacky surface you see-funny that we haven't gotten much considering all the rain in the last two weeks-the ground was so dry around here it soaked a lot of the water up, but if the rains keep coming we will see mud...

Re:

Yeah, I bought winter riding boots last year-well worth the investment :) Today-Tuesday-We took an easy flat 15 mile spin down to the Bay and back along Corte Madera creek-there is a paved side and a dirt/gravel side to ride on...

What kind/brand/model of winter shoes do you use over in California? Also, you got me thinking of trying out some tubeless tires... got some UST wheels lying in the basement so maybe it's about time I start using them in the way they were intended to. Not sure what's the best way to go though. What type of tubeless have you been riding all these years? UST, Tubeless Ready or some other set up...

Today sunny but icy here and there, after a cold night.

Looks like it was a nice day :D Global warming is Great  Cycling in winter without 4 layers on.
Duffed me back in so not even getting out to the shops :( Consigning myself to the 'days out' threads :D

I havent been to the lakes for decades. Some place

Re:

I've been riding tubeless ready tires for awhile now. I started out with the UST tires and found they were too heavy, as their sidewalls are extra thick, and found that tubeless ready work great, just they wear out quicker. I ride a Schwalbe 2.4 Nobby Nic on the front, and a 2.25 Schwalbe Racing Ralph on the rear- I really like this tire setup. Also the Stan's juice for sealant. Here's a pic of my winter riding boots-totally waterproof and warm, with an inner boot with speed laces and an outer, zip up boot. Louie Garneau makes them, and they cost around $175.00- great value for the money...

That looks like a pair of proper arctic heavy duty shoes! Do you ever get to ride in sub-freezing temps around Fairfax?
