Today's Ride

Warm today with a cool breeze.

A ride around some lakes to contrast the field ride from the other day :) No plan today just went with the flow, found a nice trail, which the nettles seemed to like as they were everywhere :|

Nice ride

Very warm today, especially out of the wind.

Went out with a friend today and followed him on one of his olld routes. Great not having to think and just ride :) Ended up at Hardwick lakes which i havent been to for many many years, very busy for a week day.

Great fun ride.

Sunny and warm today.

Went for a short ride today which turned into a long but interesting one. Ended up back at the lakes at Hardwick. The only way from there though is up, but it was a really nice day so i was in no rush.

Really busy everywhere probably due to the nice weather. I was sat up on Hardwick hill and could see the M1 which was blocked southbound incase your unfortunate enough to be on there today. Would not have liked to have been sat in that on a day like today. Great day for a ride though with some great views.

Very hot today.

So warm, whenever i stopped i started burning up so had to ride to stay cool.

Went exploring today, tried to follow a route i had seen on the map from memory. Ended up where i wanted to so got it right i guess. Some amazing places along the way which im sure i have never been to. Beautiful lakes and wildlife reserves, spoilt only by traffic noise from the M1 which was close by. I even found a purpose built MTB trail, not very long but graded and for mtb's only apparently. It was really strange as it was just in the middle of nowhere and not signed on way there :? didnt ride it as i was just passing through but will next time. Also found an egg-stradanary sculpture, no clues as to who or why.

Great ride on a beautiful day, and a beautiful ride on a great day

Re:

Beautiful pics especially the sculpture. You must investigate further. Where exactly?

The sculpture is at the other end of the Stockley Trail where it ends at the Peter Fidler nature reserve. No signs or plaques i could see.

EDIT; just found this info -

School children here in the UK are still on their Easter break and people throughout the Christian world have been celebrating the rebirth of Christ. It's no coincidence then that Easter occurs during spring time, the season of rebirth and growth. However rebirth and growth of another nature is celebrated on the 'Phoenix Greenways' with the 'Breaking the Mould' sculpture by Andrew McKeown at 'Brierley Forest Park'. The same sculpture (although the positions of the pieces are sometimes changed) appears at no less than 20 other locations throughout England and Wales, and all are located in places that represent the regeneration of a particular area that was once waste ground but is now reborn into a bright future. Some people would say that the emerging seed in the 'Breaking the Mould' sculpture looks remarkably like an Easter egg.

Warm today and not much of a breeze

Rode out quite a way to a bridleway i had seen which leads from the stables my daughter rides at. The ride there was on roads/paths for most of the way so easy going-ish. The bridleway was shit, literally, as the horses take it to reach various routes   Once into the woods though the going was great, not much singletrack but fun anyway. I ended up at Poulter Country Park, dont think i have been there before. It has some short but fun tracks, and the views from the top are good too.

The long ride home was broken up by following trails i didnt know, in a general direction i thought i should be heading, hoping to eventually come across somewhere i knew, also hoping it wasnt miles further from where i wanted to be. Fortunatly i am posting this from the comfort of home, so i still have some sense left

Great day, and a really interesting ride.

Warm today, despite the showers and cloud.

Felt so tired and drained today when i set off, ended up on a four and a half hour ride  Just went to have a look at the mtb trail that had been built by Bike Track. It had a fun last section and warrented a second lap :)

After that i decided to link that and other trails up and ended up doing a really long loop, i also found another built trail with berms alongside the trail, so did that a couple of times too :)

A long ride but mostly on new trails so a really enjoyable one

Warm again today and very hot when the sun came out.

Went for a ride to see if they had completed a new version of the trail that links Pleasley Country Park and Creswell Crags. The old one being overgrown and mostly over farmers fields and roads. They have'nt! though a lot of it is built it kind of fizzles out near Creswell and leaves you riding round looking lost :|

It was a nice day though, and with a few exploratory tracks thrown in it ended up being a nice, if tiring, ride.

Very warm today

Rode up to Sherwood pines today, just for a change. The plan was to have a relaxing ride and find some of the old singletrack i used to ride. That plan went out the window pretty much straight away as i decided to ride a section of the red trail, I ended up riding the whole thing which left me tired and a bit beat up. The new section just opened has yet to bed in so was like riding cobbles  All good fun until its time to head home with little left in the legs.

Great day and ride, now i can look back on it :)
