Today's Ride

It's still just as hard as ever, with an ultra steep paved road climbing up to a fire road that continues to climb with no flat spots to rest on-to about 1000' up.
Great views from up there! How long is that climb? I'd love to calculate the gradient so I can finally figure out Woz' capacity next time he complains about our local so called "climbs"...

Over here the fall's finally getting serious. The temps fallen down to mid 40s and all the leaves are turning gold to brown. Had a nice ride through the magik forest and after that the new HR on the UCI channel. Not a bad day.

Today's ride is another compilation of sorts from some recent jaunts. Only Two pictures because I just got the Strava and so now I am too busy trying to set PRs to stop and take photos.

Beautiful late summer early fall weather but the trail is a disaster, not the least of which is all of the trail maintenance being done by Bobcats and other earthmovers.

It's about a 20-25% grade most of the way up-maybe a 23 minute climb on a good day...

Is it really November? Thought I'd be a little self indulgent today and gave a mooch about on Dixie. Bit of localhistory for you today.

First to Hailes Abbey, a victim of the reformation.

The nearby Norman church has some quite extensive pre reformation interior decoration remaining. Beautiful.

Then a climb up the Salt Way, a section of Roman road that emerges from ancient woodland towards the 16th century hamlet of Farmcote.

At this point I went off piste as I spotted a footpath I'd not noticed before. Down a steep cleft into pasture. On the climb out I was amazed to find these marking the path. The hare and the tortoise.

Return through the grounds of Sudely Castle. And long may the fine weather continue!

Well, that was quite a scenic and Historical Tour ride, THM-keep taking the good pictures :) Today-Saturday-We rode up about 1000' to the West one of the steeper ways, and ended up at the Council Rocks perched above the Tamarancho Scout Camp and MTB loop-really nice Fall weather, breezy, about 65 F. and sunny...

Yes, very scenic and historical indeed. Love that Norman church and its interior. Is all that around Winchcombe? Today is the day of the dead, so accordingly went out for my annual crit around the cemetry and then off into the sunset...

Went through Winchcombe this week whilst down visiting family, we've decided next time we're down to stop and have a walk round, really nice place you live.
