Ti forks...what is the true demand?

For those with no proper understanding of what 'cool' means probably.

If you would accept a ti example falls short in its technical abilities: There is not so much cool about putting all the additional effort and resources in an attempt to create an inferior fork.

Will be just another not so great achievement in mankind, a proove where often hopelessly fall short in bringing our species to another level.

Will people buy it? Of course they do. That is what people do, buy stuff!

Would think crisis, focus on preservionism instead of consumerism would switch away pethatic thoughts like this ...but okay, we can't expect everybody has seen the light yet.

have you noticed this is a retro forum yeh? 90% of the stuff on here is bought purely for the coolness aspect & doesnt work so well

I am browsing this forum JUST BECAUSE I do not need the latest professional-trow-away-after-one-season goodies. Maybe your old rigs are crap (I would not expect different from someone willing to select stuff on 'coolness' solely :? ), but mine aren't.

Er, excuse me? I'd thank you not to ascribe to me opinions that I don't hold. Rody's clearly extremely skilled and knowledgeable in his craft. His initial Ti fork pitch didn't say anything about weight. I remain sceptical that a Ti unicrown fork can be made as stiff as a steel one for lower weight, but that's all it is - scepticism. It's not some sort of entrenched belief system. I'm quite happy to be proved wrong. And for all I know that's not the goal anyway.

Because £700 is a ridiculous price!

Even if a 1" ti leg was as stiff as a 1" steel I would still want at least a 1 1/4" leg for aesthetic reasons.

I'm sorry for Rody that his thread has gone way OT. What I have said is that I would be interested in buying a 1 1/4" leg titanium rigid fork. What I haven't said is I'd like it with a disc mount and suspension corrected as I'd use it on my modern Ti-hardtail that I ride at least once a week.

Yes, I did say it was about form over function. Aesthetics are very important to me. Theres not much worse than a skinny rigid fork on a fat tubed frame IMO.

I think Skyde is selling his forks for €250 , and quite a few too .

there is a market for them, singlespeed and fully rigid for example , and 29er .

I want a pair that were specced on the 94 torus,i want them mainly because they would help finish a period build.
As far as im aware, they just dont 'cut it',too flexy or something ,and they're the wrong type of material.
I reckon theres none of the torus forks about because they all broke or debonded ,Carbon must be the stiffest material for a rigid mtb fork

Roadies seem to like it and i dont think its all to do with weight,i've always found my alloy bikes were quicker than the flexy steel ones on the off

This is the Ti forks Rody made for me, won't be able to test this before the end of April when I'll be flying over to Wooster (OHIO) to pick it up myself
