This sod's selling a hub he blagged off me

Sorry, was not meaning to criticise you, just having a timely Daily Mail whine.
It's like an Orwellian 15 mins of hate for broad sheet readers.

No, I wouldnt call this guy a fraudster. More he's just a dodgy type who took advantage of a situation.

I bought a fake cd album from ebay recently(new and sealed and fake!) Ebay not interested when I told them, I had to ask the seller for a refund and that's it!

:)

Its the state of the world these days, not just ebay. And ebay will act on fake products. The automated open case system on ebay is kinda basic and slightly biased, so if you ever need to sort anything you need to ring them. Every case i have rung them about is resolved over the phone straight away.

What's the number then? I just get stuck in a mouse click loop of death.

 If you click on help and contact at the top of the page then click on roughly what the problem is, then scroll down and click on the phone option (if phone option doesnt light up then go back and pick an option that lights it up) you will then be given a phone number and a code :) They will have access to your account so always send messages to any problem users and always be polite as that all goes for you.

This just happened to be a well written article backed up with some stats by a decent freelance journalist. A five second search on Google found the following. Class/bigotry aside the theme that runs through all these articles is pretty evident in that fraudsters and thieves have a good time on Ebay and those that are caught are merely the thinnest tip of the iceberg.
Here's a selection of articles from more 'socially acceptable' news sources:

you put me in a difficult situation. Now the thoughts are if it's safe to buy from ebay or not :) Now how to know if the seller is honest or not?....

BUYING off ebay is pretty safe, cos ebay/paypal side with teh buyer most of the time, and you have statutory rights to back you up.

SELLING on ebay is for mugs, unless you go in eyes wide open and run it like a business. i doubt granniegear has many complaints, cos he charges double what everything is worth and most of it is skip fodder. even if 50% of his buyers scam him hes still quids in.

Is granniegear a forumite on here?

Makes me chuckle how on earth he thinks his car boot bicycle kit is worth more than new prices when it's not a complete item.

Would be sure interested to know if he actually services items before tripling the cost of them and advertising.

Nice feeling to rip off the riding community is it?
