I really can't believe this thread, it's an f ing mountain bike for gods sake not a 12th century work of art , doesn't the name "mountain bike" tell you something about how unfragile it is, next you'll be starting a thread on how you never ride your bike and have it in a display case in the house !
Matthew

Have been riding my MC1 Klein this year at -18... And me and the bike are still in one piece although all the cables were complete frozen and couldn't brake or shift.. :D
But cracking your frame in a cold shed... :D :D what a b..sh..

Well it's just a question, init. Ease up on the lycra ;)

mine live in a double glazed annex.

Ner.

Mine live in a heated workshop that's in the back of a double heated garage :p

As to the op..is there any way to insulate the garage?

Nope - Not my Garage, at a friends. Moving house this month anyway so will be uplifting all the bikes, that's it settled. :)

time for all those Zzzzs i've been missing out on, eh!

This is all very amusing but there is a more serious point here. I'm afraid that with rising values of some bikes we'll get to exactly the same situation that I suffer from with my motorcycles. We end up looking at them rather than using them.

I became paranoid about the effects of wintering in cold/damp garages after my much prized Harley's chrome became so badly corroded just over 1 winter (doesnt say much for american chrome i know!) it never recovered from it. Sold the Harley but still have a couple of classic Velocettes that i now keep in an air chamber within the garage.. constant airflow stops all corrosion..much easier than trying to restore afterwards.

Whats the answer.. buy cheap, ride em and dont care?..not easy.
