I'll bump this thread. Currently looking at some TdF documentaries and there is
a great snip of a fan who get's on her bike, joins the peleton, picks her way through the
peleton, rides up to her hero, hands him a pen and paper for his autograph!

How could anyone refuse that attention, and oh how things have changed!

Is that the rainbow jersey!!? For sure they could ride their bikes back then, and not a bleedin helmet in sight either. Try showing up like that at any random group ride today and the helmet mafia will lynch you.
